| Essential Functions |

| Uses sophisticated mechanical engineering principles to provide efficient solutions to the technical development of processes and products. Develops technical requirements for products / processes to be created or improved. Conducts feasibility studies for new and modified designs. Creates conceptual designs that meet performance criteria. Creates systems (measurement equipment, tooling, etc.) that support product/process development. Develops and executes cost-effective and time efficient means for evaluating proof-of-concept prototype prototypes. Performs engineering evaluation and analysis as needed through the process development cycle. Provides data, reports and documentation as needed to communicate progress and archive technical development, Collaborates / coordinates with members of the technical staff and other departments. This role requires knowledge across a broad range of mechanical engineering topics and will require significant depth in several areas. The job scope includes defining specifications for products or processes; participating or leading the development effort; verifying the technical suitability, manufacturability and /or commercial viability of the approaches to be used; and mitigating risks to the success of the project or program. Creative problem solving and innovation is required. Activities are multi-disciplinary and require effectiveness in a cross-functional new product development team. |
| Technical Skills and Knowledge |

| Requires a Bachelor Degree in a related engineering discipline, 10+ years relevant professional experience, a demonstrated expertise in mechanical engineering principals; including most if not all of the following disciplines: mechanism and tooling design, kinematics, solid mechanics, vibrations, heat transfer, material science, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics. Requires strong familiarity with appropriate test and measurement equipment, simulation software and test software. Requires demonstrated skill with SolidWorks, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint in order to manipulate data and presenting results commensurate with the designated level. Must possess the ability to effectively coordinate the work of suppliers and fabrication houses to deliver prototype designs on time and within budget. Requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead or collaborate as a team member as required. Requires excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written |
| Environmental Considerations |

| Position resides in a combination of office and manufacturing settings. Must have the ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time. Requires occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and the ability to maneuver in tight areas. Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen. |
